Ubuntun Suomi-palvelimet alhaalla?

Olen uusi Ubuntun käyttäjä ja törmäsin seuraavanlaiseen ongelmaan

Kun ajan konsoliin esimerkiksi komennon "sudo apt-get update" niin tulee erroria Cannot initiate the connection to fi.archive.ubuntu.com:80 (2001:708:10:8::5). - connect (101: Network is unreachable) Could not connect to fi.archive.ubuntu.com:80 (193.166.3.5), connection timed out sekä W: Failed to fetch http://fi.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/focal/InRelease  Cannot initiate the connection to fi.archive.ubuntu.com:80 (2001:708:10:8::5). - connect (101: Network is unreachable) Could not connect to fi.archive.ubuntu.com:80 (193.166.3.5), connection timed out

Tuleeko muilla samaa? Onko tässä vain odotettava, vai onko vika täällä päässä? Ainiin, ja pystyykö tuota osoitetta muuttaa joksikin toimivaksi?

Avaa Ohjelmistopäivitykset ja sen ekalla välilehdell (Ubuntu-ohjelmistot) on pudotusvalikkko josta palvelimen voi vaihtaa. Se kannattaa ehkä vaihtaa takaisin oletukseen kun ongelma on ohi.

fi.archive.ubuntu.com osoittaa nykyisin Funetin peiliin, joka näyttää olevan tällä hetkellä nurin, samoin kuin koko Funetin arkistopalvelu. Uskoisin että saavat korjattua tämän päivän kuluessa, ellei siellä ole tapahtunut jotain erityisen poikkeuksellista.

En ole vaihtanut sitä oletuksesta ja siinä lukee Server from Finland. Vaihtoehtona mm. Main server. Tarkoitatko että jatkossa noita katkoja tulisi ehkä harvemmin, jos otan Suomen palvelimen sijaan listasta jonkin toisen vaihtoehdon?

En ole vaihtanut sitä oletuksesta ja siinä lukee Server from Finland. Vaihtoehtona mm. Main server. Tarkoitatko että jatkossa noita katkoja tulisi ehkä harvemmin, jos otan Suomen palvelimen sijaan listasta jonkin toisen vaihtoehdon?

Ei tarkoita, CSC:n ylläpitämä palvelin on kyllä perinteisesti ollut varsin luotettava. Tietysti jossain main-serverillä on varmaan load balancerin takana klusteri ja palveluita voi olla kahdennettu. Mutta eiköhän monet mirrorit ole aika leaneja.

Olen samaa mieltä Samin kanssa, että CSC:n Funet on hyvin luotettava, eikä sitä oikeastaan kannata vaihtaa muuksi paitsi väliaikaisesti tällaisessa poikkeustilanteessa.

Yleisesti peilipalvelimien ylläpitoa on ulkopuolisena vaikea arvioida. Canonicalin ylläpitämä pääpalvelin voi tosiaan olla paremmin varmistettu ja hajautettu, mutta en ehkä menisi siitäkään takuuseen.

Juu ei vaarinhousut. Lisäsin sen ehkä-sanan  viime hetkessä kun tajusin ettten oikeastaan tiedä noiden servereiden hallinnoinnista mitään. Ihan vaan etten vaikuttaisi liian varmalta. Itse ajoin päivitykset toiselta serveriltä ja heti sen jälkeen vaihdoin asetuksen takaisin, sulkemalla ikkunan sen sijaan että olisi antanut päivittää tietokannat.

Hmm. Normaalisti security-lähteen pitäisi viitata pääpalvelimeen security.ubuntu.com, jotta tietoturvapäivitykset saadaan välittömästi julkaisun jälkeen. IP-osoite 193.229.159.9 puolestaan viittaa Elisan välityspalvelimeen, eikä mirrors.nic.funet.fi-palveluun, jonka osoite on 193.166.3.5. Osoiteongelma johtunee Elisan nettiliittymän DHCP:stä ja DNS-asetuksista, eli yhteys käyttää automaattisesti Elisan nimipalvelimia, jotka puolestaan ohjaavat tuohon proxyyn. Tämä on ehkä korjattavissa vaihtamalla ohjelmalähteeksi fi.archive.ubuntu.com, joka ohjautuu samaan Funetin peiliin. On myös mahdollista korvata Elisan nimipalvelu jollain muulla, kuten Googlen DNS-palvelimilla 8.8.8.8 ja 8.8.4.4 tai Cloudflaren 1.1.1.1:llä.

Mitä tiedosto /etc/apt/sources.list sisältää? Tiedoston voi avata tekstieditorilla tai listata päätteessä cat-komennolla:

Nyt on nimipalvelin muutettu DNS 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4 ja kone käynnistetty. Siitähän löytyi ihan ohjevideokin. Ja tässä tulos (eli ei vaikutusta):

Okei, tarkemmin ajatellen kyseessä on http-välityspalvelin, joka ei toimi DNS:n kautta, vaan se on konfiguroitu jotenkin muuten järjestelmään.

193.229.159.9 on siis www-cache.kolumbus.fi, jonka Elisa on lakkauttanut 19.4.2021, ja siksi apt ei enää onnistu hakemaan tiedostoja, vaikka aiemmin on toiminut proxyn kautta.

Muistatko tehneesi järjestelmään proxyasetuksia? Tarkista ainakin /etc/apt/apt.conf.d:
