Ubuntu tietokoneissa / Näytön tarkkuus

Outo juttu kaverin koneessa. Vaihdettiin näyttö uudempaan ja kun laitettiin sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg niin siellä ei puhuta mitään muuta näytön asetuksista kuin että kysytään laitetaanko framebuffer päälle vai ei.

Ei millään jaksaisi käsin säätää xorg.conf:ia, niin olisiko jotain muuta keinoa? Niin ja näytön tarkkuus valikossa ei näy resoluutioita kuin 800x640 asti.


Kyseessä on siis vga-liittimillä kiinni oleva tft laajakuvanäyttö.

Mullakin kerran kaatu heti asennuksen jälkeen. tosin virheilmotuksessa oli firefoxin tilalla totem. Ei siitä tosin mitään ongelmia ole seurannut.

Ongelma tulee esille aika hyvin jo otsikosta, eli xmms playlistissä ääkkösien tilalle tulee ä

Sitä ongelmaa ei tule jos laitan xmmsn näyttämään tiedot id3 tägeistä tiedostonimen sijaan, mutta silloin taas kokoelmalevyt menevät sekaviksi.

Luulin jo että ubuntussa ääkkös-ongelmista olisi päästy eroon :/

Sitten pari ongelmaa lisää: kieliasetukset on vieläkin päin seiniä. Terminaaleissa ei toimi ääkköset ja mm. firefox on englannin kielinen..

Asenna paketti language-support-fi

Fonttikoot ovat liian pieniä. Miten niitä saa muutettua? Ikkunoiden otsikot on niin pieniä että ne on suunnilleen pelkkää pixelimössöä eikä niistä saa selvää.

Ikkunoiden fonttikokoa muutetaan ohjelmalla obconf.

Nyt saatiin nämä asiat melkein kuntoon.

Vielä on ääkkösten kanssa ongelmia kun käyttää eTermiä...

 Tästä ei myöskään kysytty mitään vaan kello näyttää nyt noin 10 vaille 8.

Väärä aikavyöhyke lienee syyllinen mokomaan virheeseen, vaihda se näin:

Yksi mielenkiintoinen ja kohtuukevyt filemanageri on PCManFM, siinä kun on tabit.
universe-varastossa majailee se, ja asentuu näin

Asensin openboxin toisen tällä foorumilla olevan ohjeen mukaan, mutta laitan vähän ongelmia tänne.

Eli asensin Openboxin suoraan alternate cd:n kautta, mutta nyt asennuksen jälkeen on joitain ongelmia, joihin en nyt keksi vastausta ilman gnomen puolelta tuttuja ohjelmia.

- Kieliasetukset
 Kaikki ohjelmat ovat englannin kielisiä, asennuksessa ei kyselty kielistä mitään
- Aika-asetukset
 Tästä ei myöskään kysytty mitään vaan kello näyttää nyt noin 10 vaille 8.

Nyt tuntuu siltä että jotain unohtui, mutta kyselen niitä taas myöhemmin lisää

Edit: Ai niin ja joku kevyt ohjelma jolla selata tiedostoja ja kansioita olisi myös hakusessa
Edit2: Saako xdm:n asennettua uusia teemoja, miten?

Syy epäonnistumiseen on mielenkiintoinen. Päivitykset kyllä latautuvat koneelle, mutta niiden asentaminen ei onnistu. Syy on se, että Nortonin mielestä käyttäjällä, jota UAC koko ajan vaivaa pääkäyttäjän asioilla, ei ole riittäviä oikeuksia päivitysten asentamiseen. Näin ollen se pyytää kirjautumaan pääkäyttäjänä koneelle.  Ei tajua...

Jossakin testissähän oli että suuri osa virustentorjuntaohjelmista ei toimi Vistassa koska Vista ei päästä niitä tarpeeks syvälle.

Vielä paremmaksi menee. Asensin tuon korjaavan päivityksen (tai no Windows asenteli itsekseen) eikä enää selaimet toimineet --> järjestelmän palauttaminen ja päivityksen asentamatta jättäminen.

Käytössä on 500mhz amd prosessori, 256mt muistilla ja nVidian nv5 näyttis ja Xubuntu käytössä.
Pöytäkone, ei tulostinta eikä muitakaan lisälaitteita käytössä, ei usb-paikkoja.

Eli nyt kun päivitin Ubuntun Edgyyn, lakkasi 3D kiihdytys toimimasta. Oon koittanut saada toimimaan conffaamalla X uusiks yms. mutta ei tule enää mieleen mikä voisi olla vikana.

eipä taidakkaan käydä tuo Linuxin käyttely. Mitä nyt googletin niin aika paljon on kaikilla ongelmia tuon Logitech QuickCam Pro 5000 kanssa.

Enkä itsekkään saanut sitä toimimaan.

Jos tuolla on töiden kanssa tekemistä niin älkää sitten sortuko tuollaiseen halpaan paskaan. Pari tuntia tuon kanssa pähkimiseen maksaa enemmän kuin kunnollinen kamera.

Windowsin puolelle vaan pitää se laittaa. Ei siinä muuta ongelmaa ole.

Työpaikalla on etätyöskentely. Ostettiin juuri web-kamera, ja pitäisi saada se olemaan päällä käytännössä aina (tai siis työpäivän ajan) niin onko se mitenkään mahdollista Linuxin kautta?

Kun todennäköisesti paikkaan #1 ja paikkaan #2 tulee molempiin erilliset screenit joissa molemmissa pyörii web-keskustelu koko työpäivän ajan neuvottelemisen yms. takia niin voisi hommata molempiin paikkoihin koneet joissa Linuxia pyöritettäisiin. Alkuun ainakin tarvitsee vain kahden koneen välille tälläisen web-kamera -keskustelu yhteyden.

Millaista softaa Linuxilla olisi tälläiseen käyttöön (Jos nyt kukaan ymmärtää mitä tarkoitan)

No kun ohjelmissa on bugeja, tämä kyseinen läytynee tuolta:

mutta en minä ainakaan jaksa sitä etsiä, koska sillä ei ole merkitystä mihinkään.
Itse säätelen komentoriviltä kellon aikaan näin:
