Mulla on Asuksen emo M2V-TVM ja saan näytön pelaamaan melko hyvin ihan 6.06:sen oletusasennuksella.

Kuitenkin, kun siirrän esimerkiksi ikkunaa näytöllä, niin se tulee selvästi portaissa ja tuntuu jotenkin hiukan tahmaavan muutenkin. Mulla on nyt siellä ilmeisesti tämmöset asetukset.

Yritin kattella tuolta Asuksen sivuiltakin, mutta eihän siellä ole muuta kun windwos-ajureita ja niistä ei taida tässä vaiheessa olla suurtakaan iloa.

Mistähän ja mitenkähän voisi kokeilla josko saisi vähän puhtia lisää tuohon näytön päivitykseen. Menetteleehän se näinkin, mutta kun kone ei tule omaan käyttöön, niin olisi mukava olla vähän vieraskorea.

Ps. Miksi tuossa määrittelyfileessä (xorg.conf) on nuo SubSectionit. Eikös niissä ole ihan samat jutut vain että tuo Depth muuttuu. Voisiko sitä siistiä ja jättää vain yhden?

Ok. Muokkasin tuota edellistä viestiä. Nyt siinä pitäisi olla koko xorggi.

Hämää kun en löydä oikein mistään mitään vinkkiä että mitä ajuria tms. pitäisi tarjota. Vertailin, ja omassa koneessa jossa myös käytän integroitua ohjainta, niin näyttö päivittyy selkeesti nopeemmin. Siihen ole tumpuloinut jos jonkin ohjeen mukaan ja nyt en tietenkään enää tiedä mitä olen tehnyt.

Niin, ja eihän siinä ole sama emokaan, niin ei voi ottaa edes mallia.

Kiitos, mutta meniköhän tämä nyt oikein. Meinaan, että tarvittaisiinkohan jotain ajuria tms. lisäksi.

Nimittäin, kun muutin sen, niin käyttöliittymä ei käynnisty ollenkaan. Yritin muuttaa sekä vain tuon rivin configista, että sitten myös ajaa koko reconfiguren uudelleen ja valitsin sieltä via:n. Sama lopputulos molemmissa.

Yritin kattella myös /var/logissa Xorg.0.log:ia, mutta siellä on lähemäs viisituhatta riviä ja ei ne mulle mitään sano...

Onko paikka oikea?

Jos, niin löytyykö kikka kolmonen jolla kohtuuden nimissä voisi ajella jollain vanhemmalla ajurilla.

Nyt kun kiinnitin asiaan huomiota, niin kyllä tämä tuolla vesa-ajurilla on aika tunkkainen. Esimerkiksi kun skrollaa selaimessa sivua alaspäin hiiren rullalla, niin selvän pätkittäinhän se menee. Samoin näytönsäästäjä menee aika suurissa hyppäyksissä.

Tässä Edgyn X-server -paketissa olisi tuki mm. VT3230-ohjaimelle?

Lisäksi on huomioitava, että tuokin integrointu näytönohjainkortti käyttää RAM:ia näytönohjaimelle.
Vesa-ajuri on siis ylipäätään toimiva, mutta valitettavasti aika hidas. Suosittelisin ihan "oikean"
näyttökortin hankkimista (tarpeista ja käyttötarkoituksista toki riippuen).

Lisäys: Tuo linkki siis on tarkoitettu Edgyyn. Pikasilmäyksellä tukea ei löydy Dapperin paketinhaulla

No kone tulee ihan peruskäyttöön ja menee vuosia ennen kun sillä luukutetaan tiukkaa grafiikaa. Tämä kelpaisi jos saisi edes ikkunan siirron pelaamaan suurin piirtein nykimättä.

Miten tuo asennus tehtäisiin Dapperiin? Haluaisin käyttää tässä asennuksessa sitä koska se on toistaiseksi vielä myös ittellä ja olisi sen tähden helpompi antaa puhelin- ym. apuja.

Miten tuo asennus tehtäisiin Dapperiin?

Lähdekoodi on vapaa eli ei muutakuin käsitöihin. Ohjelma käännetään ja toivotaan,
että toimisi Dapperissa. Toisaalta voi vain ihmetellä, miksi sitä ei ole Dapperiin.

Koska itse käytän "aina" uusinta virallista versiota jakelusta, suosittelisin harkitsemaan
Edgyyn päivittämistä/asennusta, jossa tuo xserver-xorg-video-unicrome olisi jo valmiina tarjolla.

Kiitos vastaajille.

Kokeillin sekä päivittää 6.06 -> 6.10, että asentaa kokonaan uuden 6.10 ja samalla lopputulemalla. Vaikuttaa nyt kyllä että tätä emoa en saa pelaamaan muulla kun vesa ajurilla.

Se menee vaihtoon, kaupan "ehto" oli Ubuntu-yhteensopivuus, ja nyt kyselisin vinkkejä.

Haluaisin edelleen emon jossa näyttö, verkko ja äänet on integroitu, ATX kokoa. Käytännössä sen ei tarvitse / saakaan olla uusinta uutta. Kunhan toimii pelleilemättä. Kone tulee peruskäyttöön. Nyt prosessorina joku vajaa 2 gigan Sempron kivi. Samaa budjettitason työhevosta ollaan hakemassa.

Onko vinkkejä peräti merkistä / malleista jonka integroidut piirit olisi tuettuja Dapperissa ja toimisi "heittämällä" taikka edes tietoa mikä näytönohjain emolla pitäsi olla.

Ps. En ole siis halukas asentamaan konetta 6.10:sellä. Kone ei tule itselle ja joudun käytännössä tukemaan sen käyttöä. Koska oma kone on 6.06:sella, niin haluan sukulaisen koneeseen luonnollisestikin saman version, kas kun omakin Ubuntutietämys on vielä lapsen kengissä ja näin ollen on viisainta edetä kieli keskellä suuta.

Eiköhän tuo ole jo asentunut. Se mahdollistaisi valitsemaan Driver "via":n.

Ja valitsemaan tuolta tuon via:n. Toki jo opastettu editointi, jos paketti on
tarjolla, Driver "via" olisi pitänyt toimia, jos muut xorg.conf tiedoston
määritykset olivat jokseenkin hollillaan.
Mutta...
0000:01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: VIA Technologies, Inc.: Unknown device 3230 (rev 11)
viittaa mielestäni juuri ohjaimeen VT3230, jonka tuki löytyisi (mahdollisesti?) Edgyn
unichrome -ajurilla.
