Natty Ubuntu Studio - bugeja ja huomioita

Aloitin Natty Ubuntu Studion testailun Alession ytimellä. Pientä hämminkiä vielä asennuksen suhteen, meta-paketti on rikki, mutta NVidia ja Delta 66 toimivat. Xruneja hieman liikaa - hmm?

Itselläni on uteliaisuuden aiheena uuden FireWiren stackin toiminta audiossa, xrun: it eri kerneleillä käytettäessä ja yleensäkin pidempiaikainen vakaus.  10.04: n ongelma omassa nopeimmassa koneessani oli outo hiirikäytös:  Hiiren liikuttelu hyydytti asioita hetkeksi ja xrunit juoksi silloin.  Muistan kauan sitten kun ensimmäisiä kertoja kokeilin rt-kerneleitä niin näppis / hiiri saattoi yht'äkkiä lakata vastaamasta.  Asetusjuttuja ehkä mutta loppui aika tuon selvittelyyn silloin.  Nykyisessä studiokoneessani ei ole Ardourin kanssa toiminnallisesti kuin yksi selvittämätön asia:  Ylimääräinen pystyviivoitus ruudun oikeassa osassa.  Nauhoittamaan tuolla on pystynyt erinomaisesti ja virheettömästi (ei tarkoita soittajien soittoa).

Ensikäynnistys Natty Studiolla ja näkyy olevan FireFox 4.0b7 tässä !  Ensimmäinen pop-up heti loginin jälkeen oli jokin huomautus 3D tuen puuttumisesta ja että pitäisi tehdä jokin "classic käynnistys" tms, mikä tuo sitten lieneekin.   Toinen pieni havainto: Tiputin oman ver-ohjelmani työpöydälle mutta se ei näy siellä ollenkaan. Tiputin vielä yhden mp3-tiedoston, samoin jäi piiloon jonnekin.  Kurkistin Nautiluksen kautta, siellähän ne ovat Työpöydällä vaikka eivät näy sillä työpöydällä joka on edessäni.  Ajattelin katsoa lisätietoja työpöudästä ja klikkasin hiiren oikealla --- eipä reagoi lainkaan tuohon. Oodotin sitä tavallista menua mistä päsee vaihtamaan teeman ja työpöydän taustakuvan.   ffado-diag sanoo edelleen

Meninpä sitten muuttamaan blacklist-firewire.conf asetuksia mutta ei tainnutkaan ihan onnistua kun lykkäsi viestiä talletusvaiheessa:

Mitenköhän tuon FireWiren saisi toimimaan, jack ei lähde käyntiin toistaiseksi tuon kaverina.

Hmm..  näkyy olevan uudempi versio Alession kernelistä koneessani kuin mitä Asmolla oli testisssä, onkohan tämä nyt ilman tuota group_scheduling -juttua vai sen kanssa ?   Mitenköhän tuon statuksen voi tarkastaa ?

  Samantyylinen firewire ongelma, blacklistailu ei auttannut. Kokeilen tuota, kun ehdin.
Ytimenä generic. Nvidiat ei vielä istu, mutta toivotaan, että uusivuosi tuo 3d:t ja äänet.

Koekäyttäisin vanhalla stack: llä mutta täältä ei taida enää löytyä (?) vanhemman FireWire stackin raw1394 ollenkaan, ainakaan latausyritykset (modprobe) eivät löytäneet sitä.  En tutkinut vielä onko sieltä mahdollisesti tiputettu muutkin vanhemman stackin tiedostot.

Kannattaa muistaa jos editoi tuota /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-firewire.conf -tiedostoa että muutokset tulevat voimaan vasta kun ajaa ensin

Tilapäisesti testailua varten pystyy poistamaan ja lisäämään ajurin modprobe: lla.

Päivitin Nattyn. Käytän edelleen Alession versiota ytimestä, muita en ole edes kokeillutkaan.

Mielenkiintoista.  Oma Nattyni oli 18.12.2010.   Toimiiko se ok jos päivität Alession PPA:n tarjoaman uusimman version 2.6.37-11-lowlatency joka tuli minulle kun laitoin Alession PPA: n ohjelmalähteeksi ja asensin Synaptic: lla mitä se tarjosi ?

Jep, päivitin epähuomiossa Lucidin ja luulin oleleni Nattyssa 

Mutta hyvin tämä Nattykin toimii päivityksen jälkeen. Tosin en ihan ymmärrä tuota ilmoitusta, jackd käyttää uutta pinoa, mutta se ei ole tuettu?

Alession uusin ydin, NVidia toimii OK. Samoin QJackCtl ja Ardour2 Echo AF4:n kanssa.

Tuohan kuulostaa hyvältä.  Mitä vastauksia saat "ffado-test Discover" ja "ffado-test ListDevices" komentoihin koneellasi ?   Tuleeko punaisia viestejä ?  Näyttääkö  ffado-mixer oikein Audiofiren ?
