Dell Latitude D800

Moro! Täälläpäin olisi ongelma kyseisen läppärin näytönohjaimien ajureiden kanssa. Asensin ubuntun version 8.10, enkä onnistu ottamaan ajureita käyttöön!
Ajureiden asennus onnistuu niin apt-getin kuin graafiselta puolelta mutta käyttöönotto jostain syystä ei. Aikaisemmissa ubuntun versioissa on riittänyt kun on
asentanut atp-getistä hakemalla nvidia-glx:ää vaan nykyään ei näköjään sitäkään löyty.

Xorg.conf näyttää tältä Section "Device" kohdalta:

Dection "Device"
       Identifier        "Device0"
       Driver            "nvidia"

Olen yrittänyt asentaa kaikenlaisten ohjeiden mukaan mutta kun ei onnistu niin ei onnistu..
OpenSusessa oli samaa vikaa, sain sentään resoluution kohdalleen mutta suorituskyky ei missään vaiheessa ollut omalla tasollaan.

Jos siellä lukee driverinä nvidia niin silloin käsittääkseni Nvidian suljettu ajuri on jo käytössä?

Ehkä näin, mutta jostain syystä suorituskyky on tasan 0% ja resoluutio jotain 800x600 luokkaa, pitäisi olla 1680x1050.

Kuinka olet siis tarkalleen yrittänyt asentaa ajureita? Oletko kokeillut käyttää Ubuntun suljettujen ajureiden automaattista asennusta?

Koitettu on sitä. Apt-get on kokeiltu, Synaptic Package manager on kokeiltu ja tuo vähän käyttäjäystävällisempi Add/Remove on kokeiltu.

Nvidia-xconfig heittää seuraavaa:

VALIDATION ERROR: Data incomplete in file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.
                                 Undefined Monitor "Monitor0" referenced by Screen "Screen0".

Jos siis olen oikein käsittänyt,tämän pitäisi conffata tuo xorg.conf mutta tökkää tuohon?

En kyllä ole mikään guru näissä, mutta tuli tossa vielä sellanen mieleen että onko tuossa Nvidia GeForce 4-näytönohjain? Jos on (googlen mukaan on) niin tarvitsee ilmeisesti nvidia-glx-legacy paketin koska uusissa ajureissa ei ole vissiin noin vanhoille korteille tukea? Eli kokeile poistaa nyt asentamasi paketit ja asenna sitten tuo legacy.

Kyllä, GeForce 4ti 4200 go on tarkalleen tuo ohjain. Legacy ajurit ovat tällä hetkellä asennettuna, olen myös uudempia koettanut, tulos molemmilla sama.
Outoa, vanhemmat ubuntut asentuivat heittämällä ja ajurit olivat hujauksessa asennetut mutta tämä tuottaa harmaita hiuksia..
