Ostin juuri uuden kortin Geforce GF8800GT ja asensin sen manuaalisesti.

Luin asennus ohjeita Ubuntu tutuksi wikistä.

Koetin mennä tuonne sisään, mutta tulee ilmoitus:

jostain syystä ubuntu gutsy ei tunnista uutta korttia lainkaan.

Manuaalinen asennus onnistui. Se piti tehd Guin:n ulkopuolella.

Menetin finland keyboard asetukset ja koetan saada ne toimimaan uudelleen.

apua löytyi tuolta.
Pitää olla tarkkana conffatessa X:uusiksi, että laittaa näppäin asetukset oikein.

Varaudu kuitenkin palauttamaan xorg.conf siihen tilaan jossa se oli ennen NVIDIA-ajureiden asennusta.

Ongelmat jatkuivat kun boottasin koneen tänään uusiksi. Ilmeisesti uudet X- keyboard asetukset ovat erilaiset kuin Gnome keyboard asetukset ja tulee ilmoitus:

The X system keyboard settings differ from your current GNOME keyboard settings.

Tämä viesti tulee nyt joka kerta kun boottaan. Valitsen X-keyboard settings ja homma toimii. Olisi kuitenkin kiva saada gnome asetukset kondikseen.

Nyt olen hieman epävarma mitä tehdä. System preferences keyboard settings ei ainakaan auta.

Veikkaanpa että gnomen keyboard asetukset pitäisi jotenkin kirjoittaa uusiksi niin, että ne vastaa tehtyjä X-asetuksia.

Jotenkin näyttäisi olevan ns. vikasietotilassa tuo sun xorg.conf.
Kokeile ajaa tuo sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg konsolissa auttaako ?

ajoin x-configin uusiksi. Ei herjaa enää keyboardista.
Ajuri vaikuttaa latautuvan, mutta Nvidia server settings säädöt eivät eli olen lisännyt ruudun gammaa ja se aktivoituu vasta kun käynnistän geforcen server settings:n manuaalisesti.
Tosin se ei juuri haittaa, koska systeemi on muuten vakaa.

Mikäli tuo ohjauspanelin toimimattomuus häiritsee,aja ajurit uusiksi.
Kokeile tuota järjestystä,joka toimi minullakin.
Jotenkin tämän Gutsyn kanssa on ollut ongelmia enemmän kuin Feistyssä, mikäli puhutaan näytönohjain ajureista.

Oliskohan kyse osaksi siitä, että uudet käyttöliittymät vaatii enemmän ajureilta? Varjostukset, läpinäkyvyydet sun muut hilavitkuttimet yleistyvät koko ajan...

Saattaapi olla niinkin,lisäksi tuo Gutsyn hieno feature eli näyttötarkkuden ja näytönohjaimen asettaminen suoraan Gnomesta
ei ole toiminut aina.
Ongelmia on ollut varsinkin laajakuva näyttöjen kanssa.

Herjaus kuului näin:
Can not open (sh) NVIDIA-Linux-x86-169.09-pkg1.run

Tuo sh on suluissa koska en ole nyt aivan varma oliko sitä tuossa herjauksessa.
 Kokeilin myös ...pkg1 ja pkgl päätteisinä. Pieni L ja 1 muistutuutavat toisiaan kovin.
