Xubuntu 7.10: Firefoxin liintännäiset? Paneelit OK!

Eli sait jostain syystä X:n rikki. Oho.
Kokeilepa vaikka poistaa (tai kommentoida #:lla) nuo lisäämäsi FontPath-rivit xorg.confista, kirjaudu ulos ja käynnistä X uudelleen esim. Ctrl-Alt-backspace. Jos ei auta niin voit poistaa tuon Xft.dpi: 96 kohdan myös.
(Niin kai lisäsit nuo font-pathit sinne files-osion väliin?)

X rikki? Tein niin kuin minua neuvottiin. Itse asiassa pari kertaa on tullut tuo, jossa lukee "Ubuntu is running in low-graphics mode". Kun viimeiseksi se tuli, muutin resoluutiota 800x600 viekistystaajuudeksi 60 MHz. Mutta nyt kun taas avasin koneen, oli fontit taas - liian isoina. Sain niitä kuitenki säätämällä pienemmäksi. Eli ei tämä kunnolla vieläkään toimi. Taitaa kohta olla paras joko asentaa koko systeemi uudestaan, tai vaihtaa Ubuntuun.

ok. Miksi sitten 800x600 resoluutio? Sen perusteella ajattelin että näyttösi olisi vuodelta -95...
Jos laittaisit resoluutioksi vaikka 1024x768 tai 1152x852 niin dpi nousisi samalla.

Resoluutio 800x600 on minulla aina ollut tietokoneella. Olen joskus kokeillut 1024x768, mutta kaikki menee niin pieniksi. Esimerkiksi kun katson vaikka kuvia  netistä, ova ne paljon pienempiä, kuin 800x600:ssa.

Monitorit kehittyvät, mutta resoluutio pysyy samana. Tietenkin näkö-/ makuasia mitä tarkkuutta käyttää. Suuremmalla resoluutiolla fontit voi (kannattaa) säätää isommalle, että luettavuus pysyisi hyvänä.

Eli tuo on sen low-graphics moden hätäpäissään väsäämä hätäconffi.

tekee uuden automaatticonffin, joka on yhtä hyvä tai huono kuin suoraan uudelleenasennuksesta...

Luultavasti /etc/X11/ hakemistossa on varmuuskopioita aiemmin käytössä olleista conffeista. Sieltä voit vaikka tiedostoselaimella käydä katsomassa päivämääriä ja sisältöjä. Kai sulle on joskus neuvottukin varmuuskopion palauttaminen:

Tuo palautti resot ym, entiselleen.

Kokeilin vielä tästä samasta ketjusta kopioimalla fonttitunnisteet xorg.confiin ja ne ovat tuossa Section "Files" -osiossa ensimmäisenä. Ei kuitenkaan mikään muuttunut. Fontit ovat taas pienet. Kyllä niitä säätämällä jonkunlaiseksi saa, mutta ei tarpeeksi hyviksi.

Kyllä tämä alkaa lievästi sanottuna kyllästyttää. Ei juuri muuta pysty tekemään, kuin säätämään, säätämään ja säätämään...ja mikään ei muutu. Alkaa olla pää tyhjä. Olisiko vielä jotain mielessä?
