installed and configured …
I put a serious amout of time in just configuring the programs and the system. And providing Help.
The main programs (Nautilus, Gimp, Blender, PD etc..) are not only installed, but heavily configured. (Almost) all plugins, scripts etc. are installed for these. I have taken a lot of time in making custom scripts for the startup of some programs, to make it as easy as possible to use the programs. I also have made a list where it is documented which audio-aware programs are configured how and why (see About audio). Nautilus (the file browser) features many enhancements like rabbit vcs, which allows for svn, git etc. integration in the file browser, @ rightlick on videofiles, e.g you get custom items like start with vlc, media info, or start with blender:anim , same for audio and graphics files.
There are automatic compilescripts for blender2.4 and 2.5, makehuman and many more ….
System configuration ended up in a whole new menu structure, because the standard one was not flexible enough. I also had to rebuild the system configuration, as It also would have been unmanageable with the default interface..
Optimizations for different purposes also ate my time: disabling pulseaudio (no trivial task, especially when you want to activate it later on..) and other unneeded things which start up automatically in standard ubuntu, getting rid of the default theme at startup, but also recompileng the installer to use ext3 as standard because of bugs in ext4 (large files corruption, see bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+souce/linux/+bug/453579), the kernel install script, the kenel recompile script, the fix repositories script…
