En puhu suomea, mutta ümmärrän jotenkin. Kirjoitan englanniksi, mutta voite vastata suomeksi.
I'm helping to develop Estobuntu (
http://www.estobuntu.org/estobuntu-english), which is the Estonian modification of Ubuntu including the localization but some stuff more to make Ubuntu useful for average home or office user. Since Estonia is quite a small country and there are not enough volunteers to keep up with the quality of such a modification of Ubuntu, I'm trying to find out about the way Ubuntu is customized in Finland. Maybe there's something to learn from you or even some work that can be directly used.
Is there a modification of Ubuntu for general use which would be similar to Estobuntu? I see that there is Ubuntu Finnish Remix, but this includes only Finnish language packs installed by default, right? In Estobuntu we also offer Estonian ID-card support, non-free-codecs, some convenient Firefox plugins, better Estonian spell-checker, some desktop widgets, custom themes etc. Presently Estobuntu is customized both in KDE and GNOME, but KDE is the original Estobuntu desktop. However lots of people like GNOME more than KDE, but splitting the customization work between these two desktops needs extra resources which we don't seem to have... And that's why I've come here asking questions.
Can you afford to give some hints on this topic?
Kiitos,
GT
