Kiitos vastauksista. Oma koneen alkaa pikkuhiljaa nuhapumputtumaan uusimpien pelien kohdalla joten, tehojen säästäminen peleille on tarkoituksena, miksi haluan oman palvelimen Teamspeakille.

Tarkoituksena olisi pistää teamspeak palvelin pystyyn missä voisin löpistä kavereiden kanssa pelatessa.
Kysyinkin sellaista että kumpi on järkevämpi, Ubuntu server vai desktop kun kyseessä on vain palvelin yhdelle ohjelmalle, eikä millekkään muulle.

Laitealue / Logitech G5 ja WINE

Logitechin G5 v2 hiiren napit tunnistautuu ja toimii kuten pitääkin Ubuntun natiiveissa ohjelmissa ja peleissä, mutta kun käytän winen kautta jotakin peliä tai ohjelmaa, ei kaikki napit tunnistaudu omana yksilöllisenä nappina. Tarkemmin sanottuna pelukalo napit ovat napit 4 ja 5, kuten myös kallistukset ovat napit 4 ja 5, vaikka niiden kuuluisi olal napit 6 ja 7.

Uskoisin asian johtuvan ajurien puutteesta ja yritinkin jo asentaa setpointtia winellä mutta asentaminen keskeytyi aina kun, asennus oli purkanut paketista asennustiedostot. HIDpoint ei vielä tue G5 v2.sta, enköä ole varma korjaisiko tämä ongelmaani koska, olen ymmärtänyt HIDpointin olevan enemmänkin graafinen liittymä nappien kustomointiin.

Joten mikä neuvoksi?

Ratkaisu löytyi.

Muistin yllättäen, kun olin ostanut uuden emolevun ja käynnistin koneen ensimmäistä kertaa, kysyttiin minulta haluanko pitää SATA levyt AHCI modessa vai siirrynkö Native IDE Modeen. Silloin valitsin tietämättömyyttäni Native IDE, jotta pystyin asentaa XP:n uudelleen. Tänään päätin sitten viimein asentaa Linuxin uudelleen kun error 17 ongelma ei tuntunut korjaantuvan millään. Kun asennus oli suoritettu ja kone käynnistyi jälleen, tuli error 17 taas. käynnistin vielä kerran ja samalla muutin sata levyjen moden Native IDE:stä AHCI:ksi biosissa.

Eli siis olen Live CD:ltä käynnistänyt ubuntun jonka päätteen kautta olen koettanut ilman tulosta korajta Grubia erilaisten ohjeiden mukaan mutta ei ole auttanut, mukaan lukien veekoon ohje.

Error 17 tulee ennen bootti valikkoa.

veekoo: päätteen avulla komenolla cat /boot/grub/nemu.lst tulee teksti ettei kyseistä tiedostoa löytynyt (tjsp).

Mutta navigoidessani graafisessa ympäristössä kansioon boot -> Grub ja klikatessani menu.lst tiedostoa, tulee näkyviin ensimmäisessä viestissäni kopioimani teksti.

Ei kai tässä muu auta kuin asentaa linux sitten uudestaan ellei joku osaa neuvoa vielä enemmän.

kun asensin Windowsin uudelleen, alkoi grub ilmoitamaan error 17.

Olen yrittänyt winkin ohjeiden, täältä foorumeilta löytyvien ohjeiden mukaan korjata, mutta aina tulee virhe ilmoituksia kuten
sudo grub-install /dev/sda

ostin uuden emolevyn ja asensin Windowsin uudestaan, koska sain bootatessa puuttuvasta hal.dll tiedostosta virhe ilmoituksen.

Kun asensin Windowsin uudelleen, huomasin että GRUB 1.5 ei enää tullut joten en voi bootata Linuxiin.
saisikohan sen jotenkin palautettua vai, täytyykö ubuntu asentaa uudelleen? Olen jo käynyt ubuntussa live-cd:n kautta.
