Hmm.. Kenelläkään ei siis ole hajua mistä voisi johtua että välillä menee visual effectit päälle ja välillä ei anna laittaa? Ja yleensä aina kun käynnistää ubuntun uusiksi niin visual effects on None:lla, ja sitä saa sitten tuurilla yrittää päälle..

Ubuntu 7.10,

Noin viikon kokemus Ubuntusta minulla. Tietokoneista ymmärrän, mutta linuxista en juuri mitään vielä.

Eli visual effects menee vain joskus päälle, kun käy Visual Effects tabista painamassa jotain None:sta poikkeavaa. Yleensä tulee "Desktop effects could not be enabled". Joskus kun painaa heti perään uudestaan niin menevät päälle ja sitten toimiikin moitteettomasti (3D efektit sun muut). Joskus sitte jumittuu ihan täysin (yleensä 3. yrityksellä) ja ei auta muuta kun buutata.

Asensin ubuntu 7.10 -> latasin 206 päivitystä joita se tarjosi (asensi siinä mm. nvidia-glx-new:n) -> sitten asensin ccsm:n

sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager
Ei tuntunu toimivan edelleenkään kuin satunnaisesti, niin etsiskelin ohjeita ja asetin jonkun ohjeen mukaan xorg.conf tiedostoa uusiksi

sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg No, niiden ohjeiden avulla sain ruudun pimeeksi, ja sain tämän takas rullaamaan tekemällä tuon uusiks ja antamalla sen itse tunnistaa näyttö yms.

Joka tapauksessa, nyt Visual Effects siis toimii siis sillon tällön; joskus ei mene päälle, joskus menee. Ja jos monesti peräkkäin yrittää painaa sitä päälle, niin käyttis jäätyy paikolleen. Ja yleensä jos loggautuu ulos ja heti perään sisään, niin sillon on enemmän sääntö kuin poikkeus, että hommat kusee.

Jos joku guru voisi kertoa että onko tässä jotain radikaalia väärissä asetuksissa. (Ja onko tuo normaalia että nuita näytön asetuksia tuolla on noin monen näköstä)
