Käynnistin tässä koneeni ja huomasin kamalan asian. Äänet ei toimi. Kun yritän avata volume controllia kone herjaa:
No volume control GStreamer plugins and/or devices found. Kun katsoin pakettienhallinnasta, se näyttää, että kaikki plug-init asennettu.  Jos avaan päätteestä alsamixerin se sanoo:
function snd_ctl_open failed for default: No such device
Joten osaisiko kukaan auttaa? Äänikortti on muuten SiS merkkinen.
EDIT: Latasin ajurin nimeltä snd-intel8x0 ja toimii.

Asensin amarokin Kubuntu 6.04 versioon mutta mp3:t eivät toimi. Niitä ei voi lisätä playlistiin, vaan sanoo että niitä ei voi lisätä. Mistä tämä voisi johtua? Kaikki Ubuntu Tutuksi wikikirjan paketit on asennettu.
EDIT: VLC soittaa kyllä biisit hyvin ja XMMS myös (melko varmasti, koska äänet eivät toimi

Tuli tässä outo ongelma vastaan. Äänikorttina on Sis 7012 tai joku vastaava, mutta äänet ei toimi. Ennen tässä koneessa oli 5.10, ja silloin äänet toimivat joskus mutta eivät enää. Gnomen Volume Control ei aukea vaan herjaa: No volume control GSTreamer plugins and/or devices found. lspci -vv sanoo näin äänikortista:

Hmm... Entäs glxgears?

Okei! Testasin Glxgearsia ja ensin kun sen laittoi päälle se toimi hyvin mutta sitten alkoi tökkiä. Framet ja fps:sät menivät näin:

Eli miten voisin vaihtaa GDM:än KDM:ään? Asensin tähän kubuntuun Gnomen ja vaihdoin login-managerin GDM:äksi, mutta nyt haluaisin tehdä vaihdon toisinpäin.

Asensin tänään Kubuntun, ja tein asennuksessa käyttäjän. Käytin konetta vähän aikaa, päivitin kernelin ja tein muitakin päivityksiä. Kun yritin kirjautua, se ei onnistunut. Onneksi koneessa oli myös toinen käyttäjä joka toimii. Virheilmoitus kuuluu näin: Salasana on väärin. Voisin käyttää tätä toista käyttäjää, mutta tämä ei ole admin-ryhmässä, eli en voi asentaa tai poistaa ohjelmia. Mitä voisin tehdä? Olen varma että salasana on oikein.
