Ubuntu 8.10 Realtek ALC880 asennusongelmat, äänet toimii nyt!

Ubuntu 8.10 on käyttiksenä. Ja Realtek ALC880-äänipiirin asennus ei ota toimiakseen. 8.04 Ubuntulla sama ongelma.
Miten saisin äänet kuuluviin?

Olen ihan n00b tämän linuxin kanssa ja muuten olen tykännyt tästä mutta äänien toimimattomuuden takia vaihtuu kohta taas Vistaan takaisin

Onko kyseessä mikä emolevy/läppäri ? Kyseessä on siis ihan uusi asennus eikä mikään laitteistopäivityksestä johtuva ongelma ? Miten ongelma ilmenee, onko mitään ääniä tai herjaako jotain ? Mitä olen seurannut, yllättävän monella on pelkästään mixerin säädöt pielessä...

Sitä vistaan siirtymistä en kyllä vielä harkitsisi... se nimittäin tuppaa ainakin omassa lähipiirissä olemaan todella kokonaisvaltainen ratkaisu, minäkin kärsin jatkuvasti lähisukulaisteni käyttämästä vistasta...

Siis tuo ALC880 löytyy Äänivalikosta mutta ei tule ääniä vaikka mitä vaihtoehtoa sieltä ruksaisin päälle

Googletin hieman, jonkin verran löytyi tietoa ääniongelmista juuri tuolla ALC880 piirillä. Jos mikserissä kaikki on ok, on varmaan seuraava vaihe kokeilla /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base tiedoston säätämistä. Tuossa tiedostossa voi asetella optioita kernelin äänimodulille. Täältä löytyy lista optioista, joita voisi tuolle snd-hda-intel modulille tarjota: http://www.mjmwired.net/kernel/Documentation/sound/alsa/ALSA-Configuration.txt#739/etc/modprobe.d/alsabase
Ihan vastaavasta fujitsusta ei tietoa löytynyt mutta ALC880 piirillä toimivia olivat saaneet toimimaan lisäämällä options snd-hda-intel model=fujitsu tai options snd-hda-intel model=auto

Tuo optioiden lisääminen menee suurinpiirtein seuraavasti:
1. sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base #Avataan nano editorilla tiedosto root-oikeuksilla
2. Lisätään haluttu optio, aluksi vaikka options snd-hda-intel model=fujitsu
3. Painetaan ctrl + o, nano kysyy tiedostoa johon tallennetaan, enterin painaminen riittää tässä tapauksessa.
4. ctrl + x, poistutaan nanosta
5.  Komennetaan sudo rmmod snd-hda-intel #poistaa kernelin modulin käytöstä
6. Komennetaan sudo modprobe snd-hda-intel #otetaan moduli käyttöön lisätyllä optiolla
7. Testataan...

Jos vielä katsoisit mitä lspci -vv tulostaa, riittää pelkkä ALC880:tä koskeva pätkä...
Joskus myös dmesg-käskyn tulosteessa saattaa olla jotain vinkkiä...

Ubuntu 8.10 on käyttiksenä. Ja Realtek ALC880-äänipiirin asennus ei ota toimiakseen. 8.04 Ubuntulla sama ongelma.
Miten saisin äänet kuuluviin?

Olen ihan n00b tämän linuxin kanssa ja muuten olen tykännyt tästä mutta äänien toimimattomuuden takia vaihtuu kohta taas Vistaan takaisin

    sudo m-a prepare
    sudo m-a a-i alsa



och startar om datorn sen. Sen funkar det.

Description: No sound after upgrade from Ubuntu 7.10 or upgrade to kernel 2.4.24-17.
Systems Affected: Inspiron E1505n, 1420n and 1525n.
Impact: No sound from speakers or headphones.
Fix: If doing a distribution upgrade from Ubuntu 7.10 to 8.04, remove old modem driver. If you're already running Ubuntu 8.04 and are upgrading from kernel 2.4.24-16 to 2.4.24-17, upgrade to kernel 2.4.24-18 or above:

Upgrading from Ubuntu 7.10 to 8.04

Remove old modem driver for Ubuntu 7.10:

$ sudo dpkg -r hsfmodem

Remove linux-backports-modules package for kernel 2.6.22-14-generic:

$ sudo dpkg -r linux-backports-modules-2.6.22-14-generic

Restore name of sound driver that old modem driver renamed:

$ cd /lib/modules/`uname -r`/ubuntu/sound/alsa-driver/pci/hda
$ sudo mv snd-hda-intel.ko.REPLACEDBYhsfmodem snd-hda-intel.ko

Remove old sound drivers from kernel module directory:

$ cd /lib/modules/`uname -r`/updates
$ sudo rm snd-hda-intel.ko
$ sudo rm snd-hda-codec.ko

Rebuild initrd and reboot:

$ sudo depmod -a
$ sudo update-initramfs -u
$ sudo reboot

If already running Ubuntu 8.04 and upgrading to kernel 2.6.24-17-generic

Restore name of sound driver that old modem driver renamed:

$ cd /lib/modules/2.6.24-17-generic/ubuntu/sound/alsa-driver/pci/hda
$ sudo mv snd-hda-intel.ko.REPLACEDBYhsfmodem snd-hda-intel.ko

Remove old sound drivers from kernel module directory:

$ cd /lib/modules/2.6.24-17-generic/updates
$ sudo rm snd-hda-intel.ko
$ sudo rm snd-hda-codec.ko

Rebuild initrd and reboot:

$ sudo depmod -a
$ sudo update-initramfs -u
$ sudo reboot

The modem should now be recognized and fully functional.
