mpeg + myth ongelma

minulla on seuraavanlainen ongelma.
myth:llä nauhoitettujen  videoiden katsominen ja myth:llä TV:n katsominen

eli olen nauhoittanut TV:stä ohjelmia aikaisemmin, kun myth toimi, sitten myth koneesta meni kiintolevy ja piti asentaa kone uudestaan.

nyt kun koitin katsoa noita nauhoituksia totem:lla, qxinellä ja jollain muulla niin kuvaa ei näy.
totem antoi sellaista jotain herjaa että "mepg2 transport streaming/streamer..."  codec ei löytynyt
Myth:n kautta kun koitan katsoa TV:tä niin ei näy muuta kuin sininen kuva. Kokeilin monitorin kautta katsoa.

olen asentanut w32codecs ja ffmpeg codecin ainakin.
mistä kannattaisi alkaa selvittämään?

En osaa sanoa mikä olisi vika, mutta tässä ohje asentaa kaikki tarvittavat codecit

ei onnistunut. edelleen tulee tälläistä
: Missing plugin: gstreamer.net|0.10|totem|MPEG-2 Transport Stream demuxer|decoder-video/mpegts, systemstream=(boolean)true, packetsize=(int)188 (ignoring)

kun asensin totem-xinen niin ei anna enää tule virhettä mutta kuva ei näy totemissa silti.
