Juu korjattu otsikko.

Ongelma korjaantui pttk:n antamalla sources.listilla. Päivittyi mainiosti 7.04 versioon, home osio pysyi ennallaan.
Huomenna päivitetään sitten 7.10:n kautta uusimpaan eli 8.04 versioon.

Kaikkia päivityksiä ei voida asentaa

Suorita jakelupäivitys asentaaksesi mahdollisimman monta päivitystä.
Tarve jakelupäivityksen käytölle voi johtua aiemmin keskeytyneestä päivityksestä,
asennetuista epävirallisista ohjelmapaketeista
tai Ubuntun kehitysversion käyttämisestä
Ja kun painaa jakelupäivitys kohdasta niin se haluaa päivittää versioon 6.10, joka jo minulla siis on. Meneekö se nyt sitte oikein?
Vai voiko suoraan päivittää sieltä oikeasta yläreunasta uuteen versioon (7.04) ja se samalla asentaa puuttuvat päivitykset (samat siis mitkä haluaa asentaa 6.10 kanssa)

Koneella on niin paljon tavaraa joten en viittis alkaa polttamaan kaikkea levylle, jos ne tiedot eivät kerran poistu sieltä verkosta päivittämällä. En kait mä nyt suoraan voi 6.10:stä siirtyä 8.04 käyttäjäksi. Vai?

Olen koittanut sorkkia tuota pakettienhallintaa/varastoja, mutta ei se auta mitään. Ja tuota wikiä olen koittanu tavata, mutta ei se "aukea" minulle.

Onko se nyt niin että tallenetut tiedostot häviää jos päivittää uudempaan versioon? Suoraa vastausta en edes haulla löytänyt.
Uudelleenasennus levyltä varmasti poistaa kaiken, entäs päivitystyökalun kautta suoritettu päivitys?

Varmasti tätä on täällä puitu ja puidaan taas.

Koitin poistaa myös tuon section dri kohdan tuolta lopusta niinkuin vanhassa oli, mutta ei sekään auttanut.

Eipä näytä onnistuvan. Tälläsellä kokeilin, mutta herjaa tässä kohdassa:

6. Käännetään Nvidia moduulit Nvidian scriptillä:
sudo sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9629-pkg1.run

ilmoittaa ettei löydy

Löysin seuraavanlaisen tien onneen Nvidian asennus scriptin avulla:

1. Muokataan /linux-restricted-modules-common configurointi tiedostoa:
sudo nano /etc/default/linux-restricted-modules-common
Muutetaan viimeinen rivi näyttämään seuraavanlaiselta:
DISABLED_MODULES="nv"

2. Asennetaan kaikki tarvittava:
sudo apt-get install linux-headers-`uname -r` build-essential gcc gcc-3.4 xserver-xorg-dev

3. Poistetaan nvidia binäärit:
sudo apt-get --purge remove nvidia-glx nvidia-settings nvidia-kernel-common

4. Tuhotaan nvidia configurointi tiedostot:
sudo rm /etc/init.d/nvidia-*
Tämä varmuuden vuoksi, itselläni ei ollut init.d kansiossa yhtään nvidia konfigurointitiedostoa.

5. Pysäytetään X (KDE)
sudo /etc/init.d/kdm stop

6. Käännetään Nvidia moduulit Nvidian scriptillä:
sudo sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9629-pkg1.run

7. Luodaan uusi xorg tiedosto vanhan pohjalta avustetusti:
sudo nvidia-xconfig

8.  Käynnistetään X (KDE)
sudo /etc/init.d/kdm start
Jos KDE ei käynnisty niin kannattaa kokeilla komentoa 'startx'. Omalla kohdallani kdm manageri oli sitä mieltä, että kde-ikkunamanageri on jo käynnissä. Tähän auttoi koneen boottaaminen.

9. Rock rock!

Laitan tähän vielä NYKYISEN xorg.confin

En saa sitte millään nvidian ajureita toimimaan. Versiona Edgy.
Aikaisemmin nvidia toimi ihan normaalisti, mutta joidenkin päivitysten jälkeen lakkas toimimasta.

Eli tarkoittaako tuo sitten että nvidian nykyinen versio tulisi poistaa, vaikka se ilmoittaa että se on uusin versio, mutta väärälle kernelille.

Alkuvuonna oli aikaa paneutua tähän hommaan ja ongelmat saatiin melkein itte korjattua. Nyt kesän jälkeen on niin kiire, että tuntuu että on jääny kärryiltä ja tarttee taas hieman potkua hanuriin.

Tällä ohjeella korjaantui minulla oleva vika. Olisi tämänkin ketjun pitänyt olla tuolla.

Kummallista, että näppis toimi kuitenki siinä ekassa valikossa mis valitaan Ubuntun käynnistys. Käynnistin koneen uudestaan ja ajoin cd-levyn virheentarkistuksen ja se sano että kaikki on kunnossa. Siinä sitten sanottiin että press any key to exit ja siinä ei sitten näppis toiminu taaskaan.
(Pari tuntia myöhemmin)
Elikkä päätin ottaa riskin ja asentaa Ubuntun ohjelmalähteista. Asennus sujui ilman ongelmia mutta kun sitten boottasin koneen ja pääsin kirjautumisruutuun, niin hiiri eikä näppäimistö toiminut vieläkään. Nyt en kyllä tiedä mitä tehdä.

Minulla oli sama ongelma. Jos onistut saamaan jostain PS/2-näppiksen, niin voit tehdä tuon graafisesti muokkaamalla /boot/grub/menu.lts -tiedostoa, mutta tuon saman homman voi tehdä GRUB:issa painamalla ensin 'e' (edit) ja sieltä seurailemalla ohjeita... (itse en GRUB:in kautta ole muokannut, en valitettavasti tuohon osaa paremmin sanoa)

Tarkoituksena olisi muokata ensimmäisen käynnistysvaihtoehdon kernel-riviä.

Itse itselleni vastaten.
Poistin HALin asennuksen Synapticilla, jolloin se poisti myös Gnomen osia. Asensin sen uudestaan Synapticilla. Ei ehdottanut Gnomen osia takaisin. Buuttasin koneen, jolloin se herjasi gnomen puuttumisella.
 
Asensin päätteellä

           sudo apt-get install gnome 
Buuttasin koneen ja kaikki latautui normaalisti ja ihme ja kumma, muistikortinlukija ja  USB portit toimii normaalisti. 

Seuraavassa käynnistyksessä ne eivät sitten enää toiminetkaan. Mikäs siinä sitten mättää? Mikä sille HALin toiminnalle on niin olennaista, että se toimisi JOKA KERTA kun koneen käynnistää?

Mikähän se muistikortinlukija noista sitte on?  Onhan tuolla ohjeet miten se korjataan, mutta kun tuosta listasta en tiedä mikä se lukija edes on.


Lisää ongelmia:

Ei toimi USB-portitkaan. Langaton näppis ja hiiri toimii USBin kautta harvoin. Muistitikkuakaan ei tunnista. 
Mitäs se EDGYN asennus on nyt sitte laittanu tähän koneeseen, kun mikään ei tunnu toimivan. CD-asema kyllä lukee levyt.

Päivittelin Dapperista Edgyyn tuossa aamupäivällä. Sujui ilman ongelmia. Jotain vanhoja tiedostoja pyydettiin korvaamaan uusilla. Hyväksyin ne uudet muutokset. Siinä kaikki.

-Ongelma olis se että HP:n langaton näppis ei aina toimi, ja ensimmäisellä käynnistyskerralla tuli ilmoitus:

Sisäinen virhe.
"Failed to initialize HAL!"

Olen koittanut sammuttaa koneen ilman USBia ja USBin  kanssa. Joskus toimii ja joskus ei.
Mistäs sitä tarttis ruuvata että ongelmasta pääsee eroon. Ei viittis aina sormet ristissä käynnistää.
Langalliset versiot toimii moiteetta, kuten varmaan pitääkin.

OIKEIN HYVÄÄ HUOMENTA!

tuke81 ohjeilla lähti pelamaan. Joskus se on vaan niin helppoa.
Muistan kokeilleeni tuota samaa litaniaa aikaisemmin, mutta ihan mielenkiinnosta Linuxin käyttäytymistä kohtaan kysyisin oliko noilla "make" "gcc" "pkg-config" paketeilla osuutta asiaan. Niitä ei oltu asennettu ennen tuke81 ohjeita onneen.
Mikä on välttämätöntä ja mikä ei nvidian toiminnalle? Ei sillä että ne nyt menisin sitte poistamaan

Nyt mukava lähtee sorvin ääreen. Ei tartte miettii päätä puhki töissä.

Ku ei oikein tiedä mitä toi "menee solmuun" tarkoittaa, niin voisit kokeilla seuraavaks..

Lataa Nvidian sivuilta viimeisin ajuri.

Varmista ennen asennusta, että:
- make ja gcc on asennettu
- linux-headers paketti käyttämälle kernelille on asennettu
- pkg-config ja xserver-xorg-dev on asennettu
- vanha nvidia-glx paketti on poistettu --purge optiolla ja /etc/init.d/nvidia-glx ei löydy
- linux-restricted-modules on poistettu

Sitten vaa virtuaalikonsoliin eli:
1) ctrl+alt+f2, kirjaudu sisään
2) ajetaan alas kdm (kubuntu) tai gdm (ubuntu) komennolla: sudo /etc/init.d/kdm stop tai sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop
3) ajetaan toi run paketti muistaakseni komennolla: sudo sh xxxx.run
4) asennuksen jälkeen käynnistetään graafinen puoli uudelleen: sudo /etc/init.d/kdm start tai sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start

Ja toivottavasti rokkaa

Elikkäs aika lailla samassa missä ennenkin.

Josko se uudelleenasennus auttais. Eihän tämä Ubuntu ole ollu koneella vasta kuin torstaista asti. Jos siellä on jossain menny joku homma niin sanotusti puihin. Onko se edes mahdollista?

Ja eihän sitä tiedä vaikka kakarat/mukulat olis käyny jossain välissä säätämässä ruuvia koneesta...

Kyllä se Ubuntu lähtee tästä rullaamaan, niin sanotusti "pitkäaikainen haave"

Tein yllä olevien ohjeiden mukaan. Kaikki asentui mallikaasti ja X latautui hyvin. Vieläkään ei toimi nuo näytönsäästäjät.

xor.conf näyttää nyt tältä:
