Jatkan tätä kun mulla ilmeni yhtäkkiä ongelmia enkä tiedä missä vika.
Ubuntu 10.04 käytössä ja tämä lasertulostin.
Ongelma!
Pitkään toiminut samsung clx-2160 lakkasi toimimasta. En ole varma onko vika jossakin libusb -päivityksessä ja cups:n toiminnassa. Linkki kertoo että portti ei löydä tulostinta.

Kiitos!

Latasin tiedoston nyt koneelleni mutta en tiedä tarvitsenko tai siis hyödynkö tuon asentamisesta enempää koska tulostin tuntuu toimivan nyt kohtuullisen hyvin.
Skannauksen olen suorittanut nyt Samsungin "unified driver configurator" kautta.

KORJAUS:
Laitoin tuon paikkauksen sittenkin kohdalleen niin nyt skannaus onnistui ainakin Gimpin kautta erinomaisesti.

Lisäksi seuraavanlainen ongelma tuli vastaan kun tyrkkäsin usb-tikun samsungin tulostimeen kiinni ja alustin sen laitteessa, niin nytpä ei ubuntu enää pysty liittämään tikkua.
Tikku tulee kyllä näkyviin tiedostoselaimen computer:/// -sijainnissa usb-asemana, mutta sitä ei voi liittää koneeseen tai yleensäkään tehdä mitään. Ainakaan graafisesti. Onko toisille tullut tällaista vastaan? Oli kuitenkin kingstonin 1Gb tikku.
Miten tuon saisi nyt alustettua ubuntussa?

Ubuntu tietokoneissa / entinen kotikansio(home) käyttöön(RATKAISTU)

Asensin ubuntun uudelleen mutta osioidessa säilytin pari osiota (/home = sda5 ja /backup = sda6).
Kuinka nyt asennuksen jälkeen ottaisin nuo osiot mukaan järjestelmään helpoimmin, eli liittäisin vanhan /home -kansion niin että se olisi "virallinen" kotikansio.
Uusi, asennuksessa syntynyt, kotikansio on varmaan poistettava, mutta kuinkas se käy?
/backup kansiossa on taas varmuuskopiot /home-, /etc- ja /var-kansioista ja tahtoisin myös nämä asentaa uusien kansioiden tilalle.
Onnistuuko sillä varmuuskopiointi ohjelmalla(nimeä en nyt muista) jolla ne teinkin? Palautustoiminto siinä on.

Asensin järjestelmän siis uudelleen ja osioinnissa nimesin entisen kotikansion /home:ksi

Ilon aiheita!
Korjasin langattoman yhteyden lataamalla MADWIFI-binääriajurin ja asentamalla silleen. make ja sudo make install. Lisäksi lisäsin ath_pci tiedostoon /etc/modules. Koneen käynnistymisessä menee nyt jonkin verran pidempään mutta ei se niin haittaa kun eihän tätä jatkuvasti käynnistellä. :D Jos joku osaa kertoo miten tuota paikkaillaan niin kiitän tiedosta. Jäikö tuo asennus hieman vajaaksi vaikka kaikki toimivatkin nyt.

Tuollaisen vastauksen antaa synapticin linux-restricted-modules-...jne
eli nvidia on joukossa...ja onko tuo madwifi nyt se moduuli jonka pelkästään tarvitsisin? Tähän kun saisi vastauksen, etten turhakkeita asentele.
Miten tuon paketin uudelleen asettaminen vaikuttaisi nyt tähän nykyiseen asennukseen? Voisiko tuon nvidian  moduulin kiertää?

Moi, mulla tuli ongelmia kun tein tuon listan mukaan...
beryll ja compiz toimii ihan hyvin paitsi päätettä käyttäessäni pitää GL desktop kytkee irti GNOME COMPIZ PREFERENCES -ohjelmalla jotta päätteellä pystyisi tekemään jotain. Muuten on vain puhtaan valkea taulu - ei kohdistinta eikä mitään muutakaan näkyvissä. Hiiren napeilla saa normaalit päätteen valikot toimimaan mutta kirjoittamaani tekstiä en saa näkyviin edes profiilia muokkaamalla.

Koneeni on kannettava ACER 9302WSMI ja aikaisemmin toimi langattoman verkon kautta.
Ymmärsin että kun tuhosin ohjeen mukaan nuo modulit niin LInux-restricted-modules-2.6.20-15-generic -katoaminen aiheutti sen ettei Atheroksen kortille ole enää moduulia ja se herkesi toimimasta. Päättelin näin koska aikaisemmin kone ilmoitti sen restricted-moduuliksi.
Näitä paketteja siis katosi LINUX-GENERIC, LINUX-RESTRICTED-MODULES-2.6.20-15-GENERIC, LINUX-RESTRICTED-MODULES-GENERIC, NVIDIA-KERNEL-COMMON, NVIDIA-SETTINGS.
Olenko ymmärtänyt oikein? Miten saan langattoman toimimaan ilman että menetän beryllin ja compizin ja täyden grafiikkakortin tehon?
Lisäksi pelit toimii nyt jotka ei aikaisemmin toimineet. esim TORCS, X-moto ja grafiikkaohjelma Blender.

Kiitos opastuksesta.
Kun tällaisena harrastelijana en haluaisi tuhota ubuntu kovalevyä vaan tahtoisin vain lisätä rinnalle isomman levyn ja poistaa jo iäkkäämmän debianin-kovalevyn.
Pystynkö siis kiertämään tuon LVM:n helposti ja turvallisesti? Onko kokemuksia?
Pystyisikö LVM:n ottamaan pois päältä tilapäisesti?
Olen vasta tilannut levyn että palaan asiaan ensi viikolla...
Kiitos kuitenkin jo vinkeistä. Pitää lukea viikonloppuna kun ehtii.  :)

Laitealue / Kovalevyn vaihto tuottaa käynnistyksen pysähtymisen

Koneessani on kaksi kovalevyä. Toisella on ubuntu ja toisella debian. Molemmilta puolin voi kirjoittaa toiselle kovalevylle.
Jos nyt irroitan debianin kovalevyn ja yrtän käynnistää ubuntun niin käynnistys pysähtyy kohtaan jossa mainitaan jotain LVM, joku "system volume..." anteeksi etten muista tarkkaan.
Mistä tämä riippuvaisuus toiseen kovalevyyn johtuu ja voinko sen jotenkin kiertää?
Haluaisin uusia kovalevyn isommalla. Onko hyvää ohjetta miten teen kuvan levystä uudelle ja käynnistys onnistuu sitten siltä?
Miten hävitän tuon riippuvuuden toiseen kovalevyyn?

Moips!
Asensin alkuun debianin ja kone toimi hyvin sellasen puoli vuotta...mutta käynnistyksessä meni aina pitkään kun heitti tällaista virhe ilmoitusta...Koneessa on kaksi n.5GB kovalevyä ja näyttäisi virheen kohdistuvan ensimmäiseen levyyn.

hda: Timeout waitin for DMA
hda: Drive not ready for command

No puoli vuotta myöhemmin taisi sitten tulla ensimmäinen levyn osioiden tarkistus ja eihän se siitä selvinnyt eteenpäin.
Nyt asensin sitten ubuntun 5.04 -vers. ja heti käynnistyksen alussa antaa...

hda: Timeout waitin for DMA
hda: Drive not ready for command

Todennäköisesti kun osioiden tarkistus tulee eteen niin kone jumii siihen.
Mistä virhe voisi johtua?
Mistä biosista käännän tuon alussa olevan muistitestin pois päältä?
Entä voiko ubuntua rukata jostakin tiedostosta ettei tee käynnistyksessä osioiden tarkistusta? Olikohan vakio 30 käynnistystä/ testi?

Laitan vielä "dmesg" jos joku osaisi tulkita?

Canonin digital ixus 60 istuu hyvin ubuntuun. Gtkam tai Digikam, molemmilla onnistuu...
Nyt vain tuo debianin Sarge -versio on harmin aiheena.
Kamera löytyy kyllä mutta en saa keskustelemaan ohjelmien kanssa.
Mikähän /dev -kansiossa on se laite johon se kuuluisi mountata?
Ei löydy usbia millään tavalla. Ei ttyUB0:la tai muullakaan.
Pitääkö luoda laite ja miten se tehdään?
Ubuntussa toimii USB PTP Class cameran -ajurilla.
Onko selkeitä vinkkejä?
Täytyykö odottaa ajureita?
En paljon pysty antamaan tulosteita kun kone ei ole itselläni vaan tutulla.
Jonkin verran itsekin tajuan mutta jotain oleellista on jäänyt huomaamatta.
esim. kamera ilmestyy välittömästi kun kytken sen usb-porttiin, niin kansioon /proc/bus/usb/devices ilmestyy ihan oikein että kyseessä on Canonin -kamera.
Miten eteenpäin? Kiitos etukäteen. Tämä on varmaan aihe jonka parissa monikin kipuilee. Tähän kun saisi kattavan ohjeistuksen. Linkkeineen.

Hei!

Käyn tietojenkäsittelyn ammattitutkinto -koulutusta aikuispuolella. Rupeaa olemaan loppupuolella.
Tein alkupuolen tutkintona laitteiston kokoamisen ja istutin siihen - aika vanha ja hidas kone - debianin.
Kone on tänään erään naisihmisen käytössä. Enimmäkseen internet, mese, s-posti, pankkipalvelut ja pelailu. Mutta olen tyytyväinen itseeni että kone on käytössä. "Linux muka hankala?"
Nyt mietin että tälle palvelin, verkko, active directory yms.puolelle jos saisi ohjeistusta, hyviä sivusto - ja ohjelmisto -vinkkejä?
Miten siis rakennan pienen atk-ympäristön pk-yritykseen?
Miten verkko winkku - linux  -ympäristössä?
Mitä ohjelmistoja palvelinhallintaan?
Käyttäjähallinta? Jaot? Kaikkea muuta mitä mieleen tulee.
Kerätään aineistoa pikku hiljaa. Ja varmaan linkkeinä on paras tai lyhyinä viesteinä. Ei perinpohjaisia selostuksia.

1) Kuinka kauan vie kunnes tulevat stableiksi...eivät taida olla vielä ubuntussakaan vakaita?
2) Miten olisi turvallisinta asennella nuo ei-vakaat?
- Jos (synapticissa) merkkaan pelkästään noi paketit niin ohjelma antaa listan POISTETTAVISTA paketeista, joihin kuuluu vieläpä kernel-image-x.x.x. Lisäksi tulee pidemmät listat asennettavista ja päivitettävistä paketeista.
- Jos taas painan "merkkaa kaikki päivitettävät", niin näyttäisi vähemmän kriittiseltä mutta listoissa on toista tuhatta pakettia joihin asennus kohdistuu.
3) Onko mitään helpompaa keinoa saada tuo kamera toimimaan? En tosin ole vielä edes kokeillut tuon toimivuutta.

Ubuntu tietokoneissa / Re: Update-notifier ei toimi

Samankaltaisia ongelmia mullakin kun ei tahdo hakea turvallisuus päivityksiä automaattisesti.
Alla on hakemistossa /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/ hakemiston tiedosto 99update-notifier. Mitä kummaa tarkoittaa tuo 99 tuossa edessä? Hakeeko päivitykset kenties 99 kertaa ja sitten loppu päivitykset?
DPkg::Post-Invoke {"if [ -d /var/lib/update-notifier ]; then  touch /var/lib/update-notifier/dpkg-run-stamp; fi";};

Tuo tiedosto dpkg-run-stamp on sitten tyhjä. Pitäisikö sen sisältää jotain? Tuntuu etten ole mitään isompia ja varsinkaan noita päivitysasetuksia muuttelemaan.
Onko joku perillä asiasta? Olen kokeillut apt-get updatet ja upgradet, ja ne tuntuisivat toimivan paitsi että ilmoittaa aina järjestelmän olevan ajantasalla. Monta päivää jo ollu? En oikein usko päivitysten toimivan? ???
Synapticilla olen hakenut ohjelmia ja toimii. Alas lisään vielä tuon sources.listan mikä mulla on käytössä.

Lisään tähän vielä ton /sbin/lsmod tulosteen. Onko parport sama kuin sarjaportti ja onko sarjaportti sama kuin scsi? En näistä käsitteistä ihan tarkkaan ole perillä. Minne muuten /dev/ :istä on hävinnyt scsi-kansio.

Nyt Breezy Badger sitten pyörii nätisti koneessa.
Kytkin kaikki laitteet päälle. Asensin Hoaryn uudelleen.
Ja ohjeiden mukaan päivitin välittömästi Breezyyn.
Löysi usb-laitteet vaikka virheilmoituksia vilisikin ruudulla ja localisoinnissa oli jotain ongelmia edelleen.
Mutta nyt hienosäädön jälkeen tulostin toimii, äänet toimii, digikamerassa on vielä perehtymistä. Palataan asiaan kunhan ehdin.

Perheellisenä en ehdi joka päivä käymään tässä koneella, mutta pyrin lukemaan viestit ja vastailemaan niihin, aina kun mahdollista. Kiitos kärsivällisyydestä.
Lisäksi joudun kirjoittamaan nämä mandraken (10.0) puolelta ja taas buuttaamaan koneen ubuntulle ja tarkistamaan asiat, ja taas takaisin. Lisäksi nettiyhteyskään ei taida vikailmoitusten perusteella toimia ubuntun puolella?

Unix-gurua kaivataan nyt!
Eilen illalla sitten menin päivittämään breezyyn ohjeiden mukaan ja nyt en sitten pääse graafiseen tilaan.
Voisiko joku guru neuvoa kuinka eteenpäin.
Annan niin paljon tietoja kuin vain osaan. Ensinnäkin kun Hoaryn asensin niin hyvin sujui paitsi että usb-laitteet eivät toimineet ollenkaan. Ohjelma teki itse osioinnit kun annoin...en tehnyt edes /home - osiota.
Kun käynnistän koneen niin tällaisia virheilmoituksia antaa. Ainiin asennuksessa oli samanlaisia virheilmoituksia kuin edellä
