Käytän ubunut 5.10
Kuin yritin asentaa sekä mp3 tuen ja VLC:n niin saan vastaukseksi "broken packages".
Tältä se siis näyttää

Isäni sanoi että pitäisi ladata jotain paketteja, mutta mitkä ja mistä? Ystäväni kuin taas kehotti asentaa ubuntun uudelleen.

Liitä tähän /etc/apt/sources.list tiedostosi sisältö...
Konsolissa kirjoita...
cat /etc/apt/sources.list

ensinnäkin pitää poistaa rikkinäiset paketit

korjaa sources.list kunnolliseksi ja aja sudo apt-get update. Joudut mahdollisesti poistamaan jotain huonosti asennettuja pakettejakin.
Oletko asentanut .deb-paketeista jotain ohjelmia? Epäsopivat paketit saattaa aiheuttaa tuollaista.

Jotain mätää sulla on tuossa source.listissä. poista näistä riveistä # -merkki edestä(sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list).

Ja lisäksi voit poistaa sen cdrom lähteen siitä kokonaan, niin ei tartte yhtenään tunkia cd-levyä asemaan.
Tuohon itse asiaan palatakseni, avaa Sovellukset->järjestelmätyökalut->synaptic(tai päätteeseen sudo synaptic) ja etsi paketti wxvlc(tai mikä tahansa se nyt onkin) ja merkitse hiiren kakkosella poistettavaksi, jos aikoo poistaa ison listan tiedostoja niin peru, mutta mietitään sitä sitten mahdollisesti myöhemmin.

deb http://download.skype.com/linux/repos/debian/ stable non-freelaittamalla #-merrki sen rivin eteen. Sitten lisää sinne seuraava rivi:

deb-src http://packages.freecontrib.org/ubuntu/plf/ breezy free non-free
Tuolta löytyy sekä skype että java ja paljon muutakin.
