tuli vastaan kotosalla aivan ihmeellinen vika. En tiedä kuuluuko tähän peruskäyttöön vai laitealueelle.
Viikko pari sitten alkoi kotona lähes kaikki koneet jotka langattomassa verkossa tökkimään. Vaimo ainoastaan pystyi omalla koneellaan surffaamaan. Muut koneet toimivat siihen asti kun vaimo avaa koneensa (hp:n kannettava 12.04 64.bit). Kun kone avautuu muista laitteista loppuu data, kaikki muut kannettavat sekä tv:stä.
Mielestäni hp:n dmesgn loppuosa näyttää oudolta, löytyisiköhän siitä jotain vinkkiä mitä tehdä

Vika alkoi jonkin päivityksen jälkeen, ilmeisesti laite varaa kaikki langattomat kanavat modeemilta?

Moi. Aika omituista. Jotain varmaan olet jo tehnytkin ja tutkinut, mitähän?
Onko wlan tukiaseman/modeemin/reitittimen ohjelma bootattu uudelleen? Eli, onko sen toosan virta katkaistu ja kytketty hetken päästä uudelleen? Joku on onnistunut niinkin, että on ottanut sähkötöpselin irti ja laittanut virtakytkimen hetkeksi on asentoon ja takaisin off ja sitten töpseli kiinni ja virtakytkimestä käyntiin. Ne alkavat kummitella jos ovat pitkään käynnissä ilman uutta käynnistystä.
Onko wlan verkkosi salattu avaimella? Kannattaisiko avain vaihtaa? Kannattaisiko myös admin avain vaihtaa? Onko kuuluvuusalueella naapureita?
Onko wlan verkkosi essid piilotettua mallia? Ehkä ei tähän vaikuta...
Onko wlan verkossasi MAC suodatus käytössä? Sekään tuskin tähän vaikuttaa...
Mitä prosesseja sillä kaiken kaatavalla koneella on käynnissä? Ei kai mikään verkkoskanneri/wifi-radar? Onko sen (jos on Windows) virusturvaohjelma ajantasalla/ajettu?
Noita nyt äkkiä tulee mieleen. ::)

ensin buuttasin modeemin sähköresetillä, ei vaikutusta
kyseisessä koneessa on siis Ubuntu 12.04 64.bit, mitään windowsia ei koneessa ole :)
verkko jumiutuu jo ennen kirjautumista, network-manager nostaa ilmeisesti langattoman verkon ylös jo silloin.
olen poistanut koneesta kaikki vanhat muistissa olevat verkot ja antanut koneen yhdistää uudelleen. Vika alkaa heti kun kone yhdistää verkkoon. Yhteyden katkaisu network-managerista vapauttaa verkon.
Asun maalla, ei oikeastaan naapureita lähellä, joten käytän avointa piilotettua verkkoa
selvennykseksi vielä että muiden koneiden yhteys ei ole kokonaan poikki, netin nopeusmittarit antaa latausnopeudeksi n.300b/s ja ulospäin noin puolet normaalista n.400kb/s
Modeeemissa ei ole mitään suodatuksia käytössä
Vaimo käyttää konetta ainoastaan facebookiin, sähköpostiin sekä satunnaiseen surffaukseen. Hän ei edes osaa asentaa sovellusvalikosta uusia ohjelmia, on siis ihan peruskäyttäjä. Ainoa mitä hän tekee on joskus kun tulee tieto uusista päivityksistä niin olen pyytänyt häntä asentamaan ne :)
Pitäisikohän päivittää 12.10:iin? Mielellään yrittäisin ensin saada vian esille

Vaihda kanava pari pykälää sivuun. Ei sen kyllä pitäisi haitata, vaikka olisikin sama kanava. Noissakin voimakkuusero aika iso. ::)

Vaihdoin kanavaa, eipä vaikutusta.
Vaiva jatkuu edelleen, kaikista laitteista langaton sekoaa, alkaa tulla todella paljon virheitä heti kun vaimoon kone kirjautuu langattomaan. Kun yhteys katkaistaan koneesta niin kaikki muut alkaa toimia. Mielenkiintoiseksi tekee se että kun teen kännykästä tukiaseman niin muita laitteita voi käyttää samaan aikaan siinä kännykän langattomassa verkossa.
Kokeilin käynnistää vaimon koneen 11.10 levyltä, yhdistin verkkoon ja kaikki muut laitteet toimivat edelleen! Eli vika ei ole laitteessa vaan ohjelmistossa!
Miten jatkan? Pitäisikö päivittää uudempaan versioon. Tarkoituksena oli kuitenkin pitää tuo 12.04 tuossa koneessa ettei aina tarttis päivitellä :)

Koko Ubuntun uudelleen asentaminen tietysti tekee sen, että nm:n paketit uudistuvat kaiken muun lisäksi. Miksi siis asentaa kaikkea? Jospa kaivelet selville ne nm:n paketit ja poistat ne asetustiedostoineen ja sitten asennat ne uudelleen. Tämä nyt on vain mielipiteenomainen päättely noista testeistäsi. Lisäksi tarvitaan taitoa tehdä nuo komennot, joita en ihan suoraan uskalla neuvoa. Synaptic voisi olla kova sana tähän asiaan, jos tietäisi pakettien nimet. :-\ (Sillähän on se 'historia', jonka jälkiä seuraten pääsee takaisin lähtöruutuun.)
Tähän tarvittaisiin nyt asiaa tuntevia käyttäjiä. Ehkä jopa asetustiedostoista saataisiin malli, joka pitäisi oletuksena olla.
On olemassa myös vaihtoehtoisia network manager sovelluksia. En ole kokeillut, mutta jossain oli niistä juttua.
Ubuntu 12.04 toimii kaikkine verkkoineen kyllä useimmilla, minullakin tässä, joten on vaikea uskoa sen olevan kelvoton ja tarvitsevan siksi jakelun vaihtoa. Network managerin vioittuminen ehkä on tapahtunut jollakin käsittämättömällä tavalla, tai pikemminkin jonkin sen asetustiedoston jokin tieto on muuttunut/muutettu. Jos jakelu uusitaan sen mukana todennäköisesti tulee ihan samat paketit, jotka nykyisellään on.

Sattuisitko muistamaan mikä on sen wlan laitteen toimintaa ohjaava (asetus)tiedosto? Vai onko se yksinkertaisesti vain ajuri, joka sitä määrittelee? Ainahan ajurin voi uusia. ::)

Laitteessa oli käytössä Broadcomin langattoman verkon suljetut ajurit. Poistin käytöstä, buutti ja testaus. Kaikki tuntuu toimivan :) Jopa muut koneet.
Testin vuoksi suljetut ajurit takaisin, verkko taas muilta nurin. Uudelleen poistettu käytöstä, buutti ja testaus -> taas kaikki toimii :)

Tuanoinnii... onkos se Broadcom nyt toisella ajurilla, vai pimeänä koko laite ja ilman ajuria? Noita ajureitahan on saatavana, ainakin Synaptic tuntee nämä hakusanalla broadcom:
