kun asensin Windowsin uudelleen, alkoi grub ilmoitamaan error 17.

Olen yrittänyt winkin ohjeiden, täältä foorumeilta löytyvien ohjeiden mukaan korjata, mutta aina tulee virhe ilmoituksia kuten
sudo grub-install /dev/sda

Kun noudatan wikin ohjeita setup kohtaan asti, saan tälläisen ilmoituksen

wikin find komento ilmoittaa juuri tuon (hd0,3) Grubin ensimmäisen vaiheen osioksi.

Tuleeko tuo error 17 heti (ennen boottivalikkoa) vai siinä vaiheessa kun yrität bootata Linuxin?
Mitä tarkoitat, kun sanot ettei levyltä löydy tiedostoa /boot/grub/menu.lst mutta löydät sen sieltä kuitenkin? Miten olit bootannun koneen, että pääsit katsomaan konfiksia.
EDIT: vähän lisäystä:
Oletko kokeillut tämmöistä, tämä varastettu ketusta http://forum.ubuntu-fi.org/index.php?topic=23123.0 .
1. Boot with any live CD (I've done it with Ubuntu Live DVD)
2. Get a root shell -> Applications / System Tools / Root Terminal
3. Make a folder -> mkdir /mnt/ubuntu
4. Check the Ubuntu partition -> fdisk -l (oma ubuntuni on /dev/sdb1)
5. Mount the root partition of Ubuntu -> mount -t ext3 /dev/sdb1 /mnt/ubuntu
6. Chroot the mounted partition -> chroot /mnt/ubuntu
7. Restore Grub / the initial MBR -> grub-install /dev/sda
8. Exit the shell
9. Reboot

Eli siis olen Live CD:ltä käynnistänyt ubuntun jonka päätteen kautta olen koettanut ilman tulosta korajta Grubia erilaisten ohjeiden mukaan mutta ei ole auttanut, mukaan lukien veekoon ohje.
Error 17 tulee ennen bootti valikkoa.

veekoo: päätteen avulla komenolla cat /boot/grub/nemu.lst tulee teksti ettei kyseistä tiedostoa löytynyt (tjsp).
Mutta navigoidessani graafisessa ympäristössä kansioon boot -> Grub ja klikatessani menu.lst tiedostoa, tulee näkyviin ensimmäisessä viestissäni kopioimani teksti.
Ei kai tässä muu auta kuin asentaa linux sitten uudestaan ellei joku osaa neuvoa vielä enemmän.
P.S Pahoitteluni vastauksen kestämisessä. En ole ollut internetin äärellä hetkeen.

Tämä kohta on vielä selvä: jos olet bootannut koneen live CD:llä, niin /boot -hakemistoa etsitään Live-CD:n tiedostojärjestelmästä, ei kovalevyltä. Viestissäni olevissa ohjeissa vaiheet 3-6 liittyvät juuri siihen, että käsitellään varmasti kovalevylle asennettua GRUB:in tiedostoja.
Jos GRUB ei korjaudu sen listan ohjeilla, niin sitten en oikein osaa auttaa. Ehkä jotkut GRUB-tiedostot ovat korruptoituneet, tai jotain...

Ratkaisu löytyi.
Muistin yllättäen, kun olin ostanut uuden emolevun ja käynnistin koneen ensimmäistä kertaa, kysyttiin minulta haluanko pitää SATA levyt AHCI modessa vai siirrynkö Native IDE Modeen. Silloin valitsin tietämättömyyttäni Native IDE, jotta pystyin asentaa XP:n uudelleen. Tänään päätin sitten viimein asentaa Linuxin uudelleen kun error 17 ongelma ei tuntunut korjaantuvan millään. Kun asennus oli suoritettu ja kone käynnistyi jälleen, tuli error 17 taas. käynnistin vielä kerran ja samalla muutin sata levyjen moden Native IDE:stä AHCI:ksi biosissa.
